Where to stay around English Harbour

The area around English Harbour and Falmouth Harbour is small, and the places to sleep sit around the water. This page groups them by setting: inside the Dockyard, across the water at Freeman's Bay, and on the Falmouth Harbour side. The examples come from the operators' own descriptions as of October 2026, so they show what kind of stay each area offers. They are not a full hotel list, and they carry no room prices or availability.

Look at the dates first. The Classic Yacht Regatta is listed for 14 to 19 April 2027 and, according to the organizer, Antigua Sailing Week for 21 to 25 April 2027. Check those dates against your stay before you book.

South Point's older descriptions call it a classic hotel. Its current offer is the suites above. For the Copper & Lumber Store Hotel, ask the hotel about room prices and parking.

Which area fits you?

Pick by the kind of stay, then look at the page for that area.

In the Dockyard

The hotel sits inside the historic site, so the Dockyard and its museum are the neighborhood. The site is a national park with its own ticket rules, so read the Dockyard page before you plan your days.

Nelson's Dockyard guide →

At Freeman's Bay

The inn lies on the water opposite the Dockyard. A beach is part of the stay, and a water taxi connects to the Dockyard side. Ask the property for water taxi times and prices.

Galleon Beach and Pigeon Point →

On Falmouth Harbour

The suites are a base for cooking in and for walking to nearby restaurants and bars. The marinas and the yacht scene are your neighbors. The marinas are working marinas, not visitor sites, so do not count on walking onto the docks.

Somewhere else on the island

You can stay elsewhere and visit as a day trip. Bus 17 takes about 45 to 60 minutes from the West Bus Station in St. John's, with no fixed timetable. A taxi or a rental car is quicker to plan.

Taxes and fees on top of the room rate

Compare the total, not the base price.

Recent sources quote 17 percent ABST, the sales tax, on accommodation. An IMF report from February 2025 describes the rise from 15 to 17 percent, applied to a tourism sector that was earlier taxed at 14 percent. One operator quotes 17 percent including the guest levy in its 2025/26 rates. The government's tax FAQ from 2020 still shows 14 percent for accommodation. These figures do not match, so ask for the total with all taxes before you pay.

The Tourism Guest Levy started on 1 October 2021 for guests aged 6 and over. It was $3 per guest and night when the room costs under $150, and $5 at $150 or more. That notice dates from 2021. Operators confirm that a levy still exists in 2025/26, but check the current amount.

Some properties add a service charge. One hotel offer in St. John's for 2026 lists 17 percent ABST, a 10 percent service charge and a $3 guest levy on top. That is one offer in St. John's, not a rule for English Harbour, so read what your quote includes.

If you combine Antigua with another island, the St. Thomas lodging guide compares areas the same way.
